In those intervening 57 years, through both acquisition and steady, organic growth – we’ve become a total engineering solutions provider to the global aerospace and defence market.

Our expertise includes the design and manufacture of ground support equipment. We are highly skilled in precision machining and specialist fabrication, offering reliable, high-performance solutions for mission-critical applications. At our UK headquarters, we operate a dedicated Level 2 clean room facility. This environment is essential for the assembly, cleaning, and packaging of oxygen components, and is also used for the testing of high-integrity parts using pressurisation and vacuum techniques to ensure performance and safety under extreme conditions.
We proudly serve a wide portfolio of civil aviation Blue Chip customers. Whilst in the defence sector, our long-standing relationships with the UK Ministry of Defence and BAE Systems reflect the trust placed in our technical capability and service reliability.

At The MEL Group, we specialise in the supply, exchange, and management of rotable components – commonly known as “rotables” – for both the commercial and defence aviation sectors. With a strong focus on Airbus and Boeing platforms, our expertise in this critical area enables us to provide dependable, efficient, and timely support to aircraft operators around the globe.
Our rotables operation is strategically equipped with advanced tools, storage infrastructure, and technical resources that allow us to deliver end-to-end, noseto-tail component support. Just a short distance from Dubai International Airport, London Heathrow and Gatwick – the UK’s two busiest international airports – we provide our rapid response times and seamless logistical coordination for both routine maintenance and urgent Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations.
What truly sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to responsiveness. Our AOG support desk operates around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This constant availability ensures that, whenever an aircraft is grounded and in urgent need of parts or technical assistance, we are ready to mobilise quickly and effectively helping fleets return to service with minimal delay.

Our in-house capabilities include precision machining, specialist fabrication, CNC milling and turning, welding, assembly, and surface treatment – all carried out to exacting standards. In addition to our mechanical expertise, we support full system integration, testing, and validation. Our facilities include a Level 2 clean room for the assembly and testing of critical components such as oxygen systems, as well as advanced inspection technologies to ensure every part meets specification before it leaves our site.

The MEL Group has a wealth of experience in both communications and electronics, covering civil and military aviation as well as a number of commercial industries and the defence sector.
Communication is key
Our communication devices play a vital role in the industries and sectors we serve – in many cases, quite literally making the difference between life and
death.
That’s because we design, manufacture, repair and distribute the headsets, helmets, radios and other communication devices that pilots, soldiers and crew (both airborne and on the ground) rely upon. Our customers include commercial airlines and airports – including air traffic control – as well as the emergency services, the Ministry of Defence, motor sport and broadcast industries.
From prototypes to full production
The Group has the expertise to design and manufacture electronics for the civil aerospace sector, as well as the military and defence markets.
We can provide a rapid prototyping facility – with 24-hour turnaround, if needed – and have experience in a variety of assembly techniques. These range from the conventional through-hole and surfacemount technology (SMT) assembly methods through to building products with moving mechanical actions and integrated mechatronics
The MEL Group also offers a full system assembly service for products of all shapes and sizes, and a testing and diagnostics service. We cover both
analogue and digital in-circuit tests, plus JTAG (Joint Test Action Group) and combinational tests, as well as automated optical inspection (AOI).
