An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Author to join the team at Didsbury Engineering based in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
 
In this role you will act as the Sole Technical Author where you will be required to produce, maintain and update technical publications including operation and maintenance manuals using data gathered from a wide range of sources internal and external to the business. The role will include the following:
 
  • Create and edit operating instructions, maintenance procedures and schedules, illustrated parts data, spares lists and marketing leaflets
  • Generate high quality illustrations from existing 3D CAD data
  • Create and edit other illustrations and diagrams
  • Proof read documents prior to publication to ensure they meet business expectations
  • Collate and verify information about a product from multiple sources
  • Use a document management system to control revision levels
 
Essential Personal Skills / Attributes:
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or scientific discipline or can demonstrate equivalent experience
  • Has technical writing experience within an engineering discipline, with the ability to communicate complex and technical information clearly and concisely
  • Has an excellent standard of written and verbal English
  • Working knowledge of ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload based on changing demands
  • Computer literate, with excellent knowledge of Word, Adobe FrameMaker and SolidWorks Composer (or similar)
  • Ability to motivate self and work alone or as part of a team
 
Ideally, you will have knowledge of ASD S2000M and experience working in a SME. Fluency in other languages such as French, German and Russian would be desirable.
 
This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday, working 37.5 hours per week. At Didsbury Engineering, you will also be entitled to the flexible working scheme.
