DEFENCE ACCOUNT MANAGER

An opportunity has arisen for a Defence Account Manager to join the team at Didsbury Engineering based in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
 
You will act as the primary contact for all military customers worldwide, including pricing, project and service level agreement management and complaint resolution.  Maintaining and growing the Didsbury Engineering brand/name within the Market, meeting agreed sales targets for both the Business and wider Group. Ideally you will have previous experience of working with military ground support equipment or on military contracts.
 
You will be responsible for:
 
  • Develop and implement Defence Market Sales Strategy in conjunction with senior management
  • Work with sales and technical team to develop new opportunities using market/customer experience
  • Regularly report back to Senior Managers and Sales department regarding current market trends and competitor activities where possible
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with dedicated key customers, ensuring that the CRM System is kept up-to-date
  • Interpret customer instructions and/or drawings and liaise directly with design team
  • Advanced quote generation including supply of relevant technical information and advice in line with Group policies/procedures
  • Liaise with Design, Purchasing and Production departments regarding large projects and PDS orders to ensure SLAs are met, escalating to senior management and informing the customer where this is not possible
  • Attend customer sites/receive customer visits for meetings and/or product trials including travelling around and outside the UK
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the Group product and services and cross and/or upsell when liaising with customers
  • Assist Business Support & Finance Departments with customer credit control when appropriate
 
What we need from you:
 
  • Experience in a light to medium engineering company working in a commercial and/or sales environment
  • Computer literate, with good knowledge of Word, Excel and outlook
  • Good standard of written and verbal English with an excellent telephone manner
  • Positive approach / attitude to customer service (both internal and external customers)
  • Creditable and able to liaise confidently with both internal and external stakeholders including customers, suppliers and regulatory bodies
  • Professional conduct demonstrated at all times with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to motivate self and work alone and as part of the wider Sales Team
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload
  • Continuous-improvement mindset; highlight inefficient processes and suggest changes
 
This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday, working 37.5 hours per week during the hours of 09:00am – 5:00pm. We are offering a competitive salary of £35,000 per annum, plus non-contractual bonus scheme.
