FIRST ARTICLE INSPECTOR

 

JOB PURPOSE:


To inspect, monitor and ensure that products conform to specified requirements. To demonstrate and utilise a high attention for detail and an appreciation of the exceptional working standards required in the Aviation industry.

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • To perform and maintain accurate in-process quality inspection and records, working closely with the Engineering Authority and Vendors to verify processes, procedures and eliminate waste

 

  • To process first piece inspection and test vendor components in an efficient manner, in order to determine if the product meets acceptance requirements, approved design data and quality control requirements
  • To perform quality assurance tasks within the daily work, working as a stampholder to certify the completed work in accordance with airworthiness regulations

 

  • To assist the Quality Assurance Manager with maintaining the facilities and also assist during quality audits with the relevant Aviation authorities and customers
  • Completing and maintaining Quality Assurance reports and documentation required to comply with company and customer procedures and order requirements

 

PERSONAL SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:

 

  • At least 5 years of experience performing first article inspection (preferably within machining or engineering)
  • Skilled in the use of manufacturing inspection instruments and methods for first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts
  • Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings and quality requirements
  • Professional conduct demonstrated at all times, used to working to tight deadlines
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with a methodical approach to tasks
  • Positive attitude combined with a ‘common sense’ approach
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, at all levels
  • Excellent numerical and literacy skills
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Flexible attitude and approach
  • Able – bodied (able to lift safe loads without assistance)
  • Solid mechanical / engineering knowledge
  • Ability to work well within a team and as an individual
  • Willing to travel within the UK
  • Takes pride in self and work
  • Awareness of AS9102
